Ivor Place Courtyard
A sanctuary for students
Location:
London, United Kingdom
Client:
FHS School
Year:
2019
This project was developed in collaboration with garden designers Sara Sall and Anne von Baeyer.
Before our intervention, this courtyard served as the car park for the school’s staff. We were invited to transform the space into a captivating courtyard garden designed to warmly welcome students, parents, staff, and visitors to this Grade II listed property.
Inspiration was drawn from the connection with nearby Regent's Park, visible from the garden itself. The landscape features clipped hedges, a multi-stemmed flowering tree, evergreen shrubs, ferns, grasses, perennials and spring bulbs, providing year-round interest. A sanctuary for birds, butterflies and pollinators, this space fuses traditional and contemporary elements, including six steel planters on wheels and movable furniture, offering the school an adaptable and flexible space for contemplation, conversation and creativity.
